Kelcy Warren

Preston Hollow neighbor and billionaire Kelcy Warren made the largest donation to University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in the university’s history.

The $12 million donation was made to help elevate UTA to the forefront of the growing resource and energy engineering field, according to the news release.

Warren is an alumnus of the university and graduated in 1978 with a bachelor’s in civil engineering. He has made a name for himself as a pipeline executive and executive chairman of Energy Transfer.

“I am honored to give back to the institution that has played such a pivotal role in advancing my educational and professional journeys,” said Warren, who is also a member of The University of Texas System Board of Regents. “Texas faces a critical need for highly skilled graduates who can manage energy resources, and this innovative REE program will help meet that demand.”

Funding from the donation will be applied to research in the College of Engineering new REE bachelor’s program, create new lab spaces, name three academic positions after Warren and provide fellowship support.

UTA’s new REE degree program is scheduled to launch in fall 2023.
