Carla Rockmore Collection

When Preston Hollow resident Carla Rockmore’s fashion design career was put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, she, like many others, began broadcasting on YouTube and other social media. In spring 2021 she made a TikTok video of herself inside her mind-blowing closet, getting dressed and accessorized for a night out while feeling icky.

She dons a green tank dress as she plucks pieces of incredible jewelry from clear organizational drawers before declaring, “even though I’m bloated and very gross I am comfortable and look fantastic.” And she did.

That video went viral, as commenters called her “Queen,” compared her to Carrie Bradshaw and Cher and asked her to “be my mom.”

@carlarockmore Happy Father's Day to all the Dads who taught their kids cool stuff... stuff they took with them later that serve them well. Even inadvertently my dad taught me life lessons that I still use today. Thank you Dad. Have a good one XOXO #fathersday #lifelessons #dadknowsbest ♬ original sound - Carla Rockmore
The 55 year old’s fashion career had spanned 30 years pre-COVID, but, as her publicists put it, “She has since become one of the most respected fashion influencers, known for her eclectic looks and styling tricks, joyful personality, endless baubles and notably the way she highlights and embraces age with confidence. Her content is aspirational yet accessible and her uniquely fearless approach to fashion is inspirational and relatable to her followers of all ages.”

She been on The TODAY Show, Tamron Hall Show, Access Hollywood and was named #53 on People Magazine’s 100 Reasons to Love America in 2022.

And today the Queen launched her new line, Carla Rockmore Fine Jewelry Collection, which represents “the culmination of Carla’s most coveted designs.”

The 26-piece collection, which is priced between $850-3750, features sculptural ornaments in three-dimensional form, hand made from semi-precious and precious natural stones.

“Tiny whimsical treasures to fit any mood or occasion, these miniature future heirlooms are yours to find your own meaning within the self-expression of wearing adornment,” Rockmore says.

The collection — which includes Rockmore’s “signature Victorian Goddess chandelier style earrings featuring white diamond nipples and 18k gold accents” and “Esme Floral Drop earrings featuring hand painted white flowers inspired by a William Morris style garden party” — reportedly has been years in the making. In March 2020, she was finalizing the designs in India when she had to put everything on hold due to the pandemic’s travel restrictions, according to her team.

“Three years and over two million followers later, Carla is elated to finally share her most elevated, exquisite designs to date.”

Not to disappoint her followers and fans, but according to Texas Monthly, Carla’s closet is slightly less “Aladdin’s cave” and closer to “ordinary, overstuffed suburban closet—albeit one with a spiral staircase and a fireplace” than it appears on TikTok. But, as Rockmore begins to style a pair of silvery-gray Issey Miyake culottes the interviewer has brought along, “the closet begins, magically, to expand.”

(It’s a worthwhile read with a poignant segment dedicated to Rockmore’s mostly positive experience with her teenage daughter who came out as transgender at her Dallas-area high school.)
