On July 1, NorthPark Center will host the 36th Infantry Division Band for a special performance, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NorthCourt, located between Macy’s and Nordstrom.
Based out of Camp Mabry in Austin, the band is comprised of 50+ members who travel around Texas and surrounding areas preforming at military functions, patriotic events, parades, sporting events and more.
Within the band there are various preforming groups including the Concert Band, Jazz Big Band, Rock Band, and smaller groups such as the Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.
The “Lonestar” Concert Band is a three-time winner of The Colonel George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Bands. The award, which recognized the performance of bands under current conductors, is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a U.S. Military ensemble.
