A small business founded by a local parent is participating in a National Sugar Cookie Day campaign. Sunday, July 9, the company will donate cookies — low-sugar cookies, that is — to Dallas Children’s Medical Center, a neighborhood pediatric hospital named one of America’s best by U.S. News & World Report, for every purchase made, “spreading joy and sweetness to young patients while supporting a noble cause,” according to a press release.

Founder, mom Sarah Beddoe

Named for owner Sarah Beddoe’s daughter, Olivia (“Liv” for short), Love, Liv Bakeshop creates nutritious treats in line with a company mission of food inclusivity, the announcement says.

As the Advocate previously reported, Olivia was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes at age 3. To accommodate children like Liv, all Love, Liv Bakeshop treats contain less than 15 grams of carbs, no sugar, are allergen free and have little-to-no glycemic impact, according to company literature.

“The Bakeshop aims to champion a balance of flavor, fun, and health without unnecessary sugar. In line with the brand’s mission for food inclusivity, all of Love, Liv Bakeshop’s offers are guaranteed freshly baked, free of gluten, nuts and lack any unnecessary sugar, making their cookies safe, healthy and above all, enjoyable for everyone.”

The decision to support Dallas Children’s Medical Center is rooted in “a belief in the power of kindness and the importance of helping those in need,” the company notes. They say they “understand the challenges faced by these brave children and their families and hope to brighten their days with a touch of sweetness.”

To participate in the charitable campaign, visit Love, Liv Bakeshop’s website and purchase a box of cookies.

“Each purchase will not only satisfy your taste buds but also contribute to the donation to the Dallas Children’s Medical Center,” the company promises.
