Dallas-based jewelry company Nikki Smith Designs is opening a new location in the Preston Hollow area.
Founded by Nikki Smith in 2014, Nikki Smith Designs plans to open a storefront at 5710 W. Lovers Lane by the end of August.
Smith began making jewelry for her coworkers at her corporate buying job. They liked the pieces she made and wore.
She decided to leave the company and start her own business. The Dallas Farmers Market was the first place she sold her jewelry.
Reagan Bisel, who does marketing and social media for the company, said they were looking for a larger space to house a retail store, along with storage and office space.
The building on Lovers Lane was also a good opportunity to reach a different customer base; most of the company’s shoppers come from Uptown and Downtown, Bisel said.
Nikki Smith Designs is known for its modern, dainty pieces, many of them waterproof. The company sells rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets and permanent jewelry.
“We really try our hardest to do waterproof pieces so that people can wear them everyday — gym, shower, pool — and not have to worry about everyday life and just kind of have the jewelry that you want to wear all the time and never have to worry about taking it off,” Bisel said.
