The city has announced the schedule for the proposed 2023-24 budget town-hall meetings, commencing with District 1 on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 6:00 p.m. at the Dallas Methodist Medical Center.
District 13 Council Member Gay Donnell Willis will participate in multiple joint sessions with various districts during the fiscal budget schedule. The first joint session will take place at the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center on Aug. 17, at 6:00 p.m., where she will be joined by council members Paula Blackmon and Kathy Stewart from districts 9 and 10.
According to the city’s adopted budget plan, this year’s proposed budget aims to raise more revenue from property taxes than the previous year by 10.98 percent, totaling $132,345,693.
In addition to the city’s budget meetings, District 13 will host a virtual discussion on managing the city’s homeless population, inviting participants to join the virtual meeting on Aug. 7, at 6:30 p.m.
