It was just last week that Kips Bay Decorator Show House announced its return to Dallas with its annual interior design event, but already, the event has been met with some tension.

The event is set for a two-week showcase at the gorgeous five-bedroom house at 9446 Hathaway St. in Old Preston Hollow, the same neighborhood as the previous events. The show will begin on Nov. 3. Despite the city citing traffic controls for the event, neighbors around the area have voiced their feedback.

The Dallas Morning News reported that council member Gay Donnel Willis of District 13 is concerned that the neighborhood won’t be able to accommodate the event.

“It seems like a far less disruptive plan to consider the street structure and the concerns of neighbors before planning this event,” Willis said.

This year will mark its fourth return to Preston Hollow and the city already fixed its traffic control after last year’s shortened event due to traffic concerns. The City of Dallas is requiring guests to use the Methodist Church parking lot off Lovers Lane. There will be off-duty officers on-site to help guide people and control traffic. Shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes if people do decide to use other transportation options. They emphasized towing will be enforced for parking on neighborhood streets.

Since the street will see thousands of people between the dates of the show – and that street, in particular, is narrow – guests must abide by city code and find accommodations to attend. Although there is some hesitancy this year, others are still anticipating the reveal of the house just the same.

“I cant wait to see this year’s Showhouse! Glad you’re coming back,” a user wrote in response to the Instagram post.

“Gorgeous house👏👏So happy to see your return 💃💃🥂🥂,” wrote another.
