The annual Texas Women’s Foundation (TXWF) announced Emmy-nominated actress Storm Reid as this year’s keynote speaker.

Reid has been a notorious young actress in Hollywood with titles such as Euphoria, The Suicide Squad, Twelve Years A Slave, and many more. In 2013, Reid and her mother launched an independent multimedia production house, A SEED & WINGS Production, dedicated to creating narratives that forge multicultural conversations, entertain, educate and uplift. Reid also leads other philanthropic initiatives and recently launched 1720 ONE PARK AT A TIME, a mission to restore parks and playgrounds in underprivileged communities.

“We have the perfect ‘storm’ with Storm and know her words will be riveting and powerful,”  Texas Women’s Foundation interim president and chief executive officer Dena L. Jackson, T, said. “We’re thankful to the team of Ashleigh and Yolanda for helping make our signature luncheon one that you must attend.”

The 38th annual luncheon will be held on Sept. 26, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and hosted at the Hilton Anatole Hotel off of Market Center Blvd. For many years, the signature event for the organization has helped advance Texas women’s economic security, leadership, education, health and safety.

In addition to the keynote speaker, the Dallas Mavericks is the presenting sponsor for the luncheon. TXWF supporters and business leaders Ashleigh Everett and Yolanda Garcia are the luncheon co-chairs.

Everett is senior vice president and general counsel of Hunt Oil Company and is the current chair of Hunt’s inclusion and diversity initiative. Garcia is the co-leader of Sidley’s Securities and Shareholder Litigation practice group and co-chair of the firm’s diversity of committee. Together, they are dedicated to helping women’s initiatives and promoting security and leadership opportunities.

Last year, the Texas Women’s Foundation raised over $7.1 million to invest in advancing economic security and leadership for Texas women and girls through research. The organization is the world’s largest women’s foundation.
