Ursuline Academy of Dallas, a Catholic college preparatory school for young women in grades 9-12, celebrated its 150th year this month.

Ursuline is the oldest operating school in Dallas, with a dedication to preparing female students for leadership roles in society, according to the academy.

“Ursuline has evolved in line with best practices in pedagogy, technology, and support for every area of student life,” said President Gretchen Kane.

They also work to welcome students of all backgrounds.

They celebrated with a morning ceremony to honor new facilities, commemorating The Campaign for Ursuline: Act, Move, Believe. The campaign is a fundraising effort that’s goal is to provide support for all features of teaching and learning at the academy. It has assisted the campus in expanding over 90,000 feet and has fundraised over $85 million.

The Ursuline Academy was formed in 1874, after Bishop Claude Dubuis sent six sisters to what we now know as Dallas. At the time, Dallas had a very small population of about 2,000.

Ursuline is thrilled to continue their dedication to their students.

“I am filled with gratitude for our community’s commitment to the Ursuline mission and dedication to our students,” said Kane. “And I am truly honored to begin this most important work… Ursuline’s next 150 years!”
