The 20-year-old Dallas man was convicted of capital murder on Friday in connection with the Memorial Day 2020 murder of Leslie Squair Baker outside her Dallas home.

The trial began last week on Monday, Sept. 18 and ended with the jury finding Anthony Jermaine Lewis guilty and receiving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 40 years. At the time, he was a minor.

Baker was found shot in her Dallas home near the Preston Royal shopping center in May 2020. Reports state that Lewis and two others attempted to steal Baker’s vehicle. Dallas police linked the shooting with other recent carjackings. Lewis was arrested two days later along with the other two suspects.

The other two suspects, Denj Ajack and Atony Taylor, both minors at the time as well, were also charged with capital murder.Â
