Although it doesn’t feel like it yet, fall has arrived and there’s plenty to do in North Dallas. From new menu items at local favorites to shopping and neighborhood houses, this list will be your guide this month.

1. NorthPark decorations

This season, NorthPark Mall is embracing the festivities and it’s always fun seeing the new fall decorations. On the first floor near Macy’s and Nordstrom, there’s a miniature haunted house designed by Suzanne O’Brien. A picture wouldn’t do it justice and it is definitely art worth seeing during the next shopping venture.

2. Trader Joe’s

It’s time to pick up a pumpkin at Trader Joe’s. Their evenly priced pumpkins and squash are a score for adding to the cart. Our neighborhood store located on Walnut Hill will be our friend this month with other new tasty additions to the shelves.

3. Susie Cakes

Who doesn’t love a sweet treat to pair with our favorite movies? Susie Cakes has new spooky sweets from a Barbie cake to a decoration kit to take home and make your own haunted house. There are new flavors and fun cookies, cupcakes and cakes.

4. Neighborhood houses

One key to a good holiday season is checking out what houses have taken on Halloween in full swing. The best houses to roll down the window for are around Old Preston Hollow. Driving down Preston Road will also lead cars through Park Cities and toward Armstrong Parkway and Preston which is known for having holiday favorites.

5. Merit Coffee

It wouldn’t be a good drive without something seasonal to sip on. Merit Coffee introduced their fall menu with the harvest spice latte, berry cobbler matcha, shaken maple pecan and yes, even the infamous pumpkin spiced latte.

6. Home tours

If looking at houses on the outside isn’t enough, there’s two home tours to put on the calendar. AIA Tour returns with two houses in the Preston Hollow neighborhood. Kips Bay also returns for their fourth consecutive year in Old Preston Hollow where designers take over rooms of one house.

7. Thirsty Lion Gastro Pub and Grill

To finish the list off, relax at Thirsty Lion Gastro Pub with beer flights and new menu options including black cherry BBQ pork tenderloin, whiskey bing cherry bread pudding and high west maple Old Fashioned to name a few.

8. Movie on the Lawn

Preston Hollow Village shopping center will host a family-friendly movie on the lawn on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be $7 for general admission and free for children five years and younger. The movie is the new Haunted Mansion movie and Preston Hollow Village invites people to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks. People can bring their own snacks, order from the nine food options around or pop into Trader Joe’s for a quick snack or two.
