The new speakeasy at Renny’s might just be a nod to the classic days of old, requiring a riddle to gain entry.

Renny’s Bar and Grill, a Maguire’s concept, joined the hospitality group earlier this summer and recently introduced a hidden speakeasy, The Stache, on Nov. 14. It occupies the previous space of Rockfish Grill.

The name pays homage to the stylish mustache that belonged to Renny, the father of owner Mark Maguire. Not only is it a dedication to Maguire’s father, but it also plays on the concept of being “stashed” away.

The décor includes a family tribute, with Mark’s daughter, Maddy Maguire, curating the atmosphere to reflect the personality of her grandfather, Renny.

Once guests solve the riddle at the hidden entrance, they are welcomed to an intimate bar offering its own drink and food menu.

Beverage director Samuel Peters curated the menu, featuring both classic and innovative cocktails like the Brambling Man, Thirty Days of Night, and, of course, The Stache Old Fashioned. For food, guests can enjoy items from the full Renny’s dinner menu until 10 p.m., including options like Tenderloin Crostinis, Fried Calamari, or the Chocolate Lava Cake.

Regarding the riddle, it adds an element of exclusivity by quizzing guests about historical figures with famous mustaches.

Adding a layer of exclusivity of the speakeasy experience, The Stache will only be open two nights a week by reservation, accommodating parties with a maximum size of six guests due to its 30-seat capacity.

The Stache operates from 6 p.m. to midnight on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
