There’s nothing wrong with procrastinating in the days following Christmas or even leaving the lights up until the new year.

Whenever you decide to tackle the countless boxes in your living room (we’re all guilty), Dallas makes it a bit easier to dispose of Christmas trees and decorations. Each site is designated for Dallas residents only, so ensure you bring proof of a Dallas address for successful tree disposal.

Tree disposal options near our neighborhood:

The Northeast (Fair Oaks) Transfer Station) is open and accepting drop-offs at no cost.

This is an option for those who live more towards the east side, located at 7677 Fair Oaks Ave. This drop-off is open Tuesday – Friday from 7 to 9 a.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. It will be closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day but will resume regular hours after the holidays.

If you live closer to the west then the best site would be McCommas Bluff near Love Field Dallas, located at 5100 Youngblood Rd. This location’s hours are Monday – Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Holidays will affect hours so visit their website to double check hours this week. Trees can be recycled now through Feb. 3. Trees will not be recycled.

In order to be accepted, trees must be real and not flocked and must have all the decorations, tinsel and lights removed. The trees will later be used for mulch and reused on City property. Trees not accepted will be directed to the general waste stream at the facility.

Other locations:

Dallas is accepting drop-offs at Northwest (Bachman) Transfer Station and Southwest (Westmoreland) Transfer Station.

Other brush and bulky items:

Dallas residents can leave up to 10 cubic yards of Christmas tree brush by their curbs for Brush and Bulk Item Collection before 7 a.m. on Monday morning. Those interested can fill out a service request online to ensure pickup.
