Pershing Elementary School principal Lourdes Morales-Figueroa stands among 20 other Dallas ISD principles honored with the annual master principal designation for the 2023-2024 school year.

The designations were revealed on Dec. 13 at the monthly principals’ meeting, recognizing the top 10% of Dallas ISD principals across elementary, secondary and choice schools. Criteria for this year included experience and diversity district-wide, along with a minimum of three years of service as a Dallas ISD principal and evaluations of individual and campus performances.

Dr. Morales boasts leadership experience, including her time in Puerto Rico as an off-campus director at Universidad del Este, where she achieved an increase in enrollment by 83% in two years. In Dallas, she contributed to the advancement of math scores by 25% at Zaragoza Elementary School, along with positions at S. S. Conner Elementary School and Nathan Adams Elementary School.

Currently serving as the principal of John J. Pershing Elementary School, her primary focus is providing optimal learning opportunities for all scholars and supporting faculty and staff in their collaborative efforts to establish the district’s first elementary STEAM collegiate academy.

In recognition of their achievement, master principals, including Dr. Morales, will receive a $10,000 stipend and be honored at the annual event on Feb. 1 at the Joule Hotel. Principals from Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, Anne Frank Elementary School, and others were also acknowledged.
