Three years after tornado damage, the Dallas City Council approved construction to begin on three traffic signals hit by the storm.

The council passed a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a construction services contract with EARTC (EAR Telecommunications, LLC) for the repair of tornado-damaged intersection traffic signals.

The 2019 tornado heavily impacted intersections of Walnut Hill Lane and Brockbank Drive, Park Lane and Webb Chapel Road, Royal Lane and St. Michaels Drive, and Forest Lane and Shepherd Road.

The contract with EARTC is limited to a value of $3,091,437.15 with the budget approved by the city council. Funding for the project comes from the Federal Highway Administration Tornado Damaged Signals Fund and the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund.

Last summer, traffic lights at Preston Royal Lane, Midway Road and Killion Drive were replaced with a 1.3 million dollar budget from the same fund as the upcoming project.
