A handful of crime incidents that occurred in the Preston Hollow area between April 23-April 29, courtesy Dallas P.D. police reports (unless specified otherwise)…

More than $500 worth of property was stolen during two “smash and grab” incidents at the local YMCA. On April 23, purses and wallets were stolen from two vehicles parked at the Town North YMCA were burglarized between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Dallas police officers dispatched a SWAT team and shot tear gas into a Preston Hollow area apartment last week in a seven-hour standoff with a disturbed woman, DMN reports. Officers were called to an apartment in the 10700 block of Park Village Place, (near Royal and the tollway) about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, when the woman barricaded herself in her apartment, reportedly armed with a gun. The woman eventually surrendered about 6 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on April 23, a catalytic converter worth $1000 was stolen from a car parked at North Dallas Bank & Trust (near Preston and 635.)

Three home burglaries occurred in the Preston Hollow area on Thursday, April 24:

  • Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. a burglar gained rear entry into a home located near Marsh and 635 by kicking in the back door. The suspect(s) stole more than $6000 worth of jewelry, cash, and electronics.
  • Between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. a burglar broke through the sliding glass door and stole more than $8000 worth of electronics and jewelry from a residence located near Walnut Hill and Hillcrest.
  • Between 6 p.m. on April 24 and 6 a.m. on April 25, a burglar entered the garage and stole more than $18,000 worth of appliances from a residence located near Preston and Walnut Hill.

 

Unknown suspects driving in a 2010 white Ford vehicle caused $300 worth of damage while stealing copper wire from the security camera located outside of the upscale consignment store Clotheshorse Anonymous just after 2 a.m. April 25.
