Grammy Award winner and Hockaday grad Lisa Loeb was in Dallas at Forestwood Antique Mall’s Garden Tea Room, ordering pink cake, according to the Dallas Morning News. She has a new album, “A Simple Trick to Happiness,” which is scheduled to launch Feb. 28. She was the first pop musician to have a No. 1 single while not signed to a recording contract. She followed that hit song, “Stay (I Missed You)” from the film “Reality Bites” in 1994, with six albums, including two that were certified gold. Loeb also created five children’s albums. “Feel What U Feel” won the Grammy for Best Children’s Album in 2018. In the Dallas Morning News story, long-time music writer Thor Christensen writer says she “found inspiration from her 10-year-old daughter, Lyla, and 7-year-old son, Emet, whom she is raising in the San Fernando Valley with her husband, Roey Hershkovitz, a former talent booker for Conan O’Brien and now the vice president of Capitol Studios. Both kids appear in the video to ‘This is My Life,’ Loeb’s rockin’ new tune about focusing on moments of simplicity.”
