No one I know loves and understands dogs better than neighborhood resident Lauren Bailey. She’s a dog whisperer type of person who has been working with canines since her elementary days when she opened a dog-walking business in her neighborhood.

Bailey grew up to be an advocate of proper dog training — she trains her Westie, Lizzie, her Australian shepherd, Simon, and ocassionally other dogs as well — and recently decided to launch an online-only dog products store, Complete Dog, to sell the items she loves. I’m in the market for a new dog bed (my Yorkipoo, Winnie, has slept in the same bed for the last seven years, and it’s about to bite the dust), so I asked Bailey what she would suggest. (Full disclosure: We became friends through a book club, so I sometimes hit her up for advice.)

Bailey told me she’s getting ready to buy Crypton beds for her dogs — so soft, she wishes they came in human sizes. She also mentioned West Paws makes great beds for people wanting eco-friendly products. But as for my dog, "it really does depend on whether Winnie is a nester in her bed, or she likes more of a hard surface," Bailey says. And that’s what’s great about her — because she’s a dog trainer, she knows every breed and dog is unique and has unique needs, and wants to cater to those specificities.

The Complete Dog website launched just this week, and neighbors should check out Bailey’s grand opening special: all products up to 15 percent off.
