This Friday afternoon at 1:30 DISD officials will break ground on the new George Herbert Walker Bush Elementary School, which is slated to open August 2011.

Bush Elementary, which is being funded by 2008 bond dollars, will serve as a relief school for some of our District 1 schools: Tom C. Gooch, Jerry R. Junkins, and Anne Frank. The 94,000-square foot space at the corner of Brookhaven and Spring Valley will have room for more than 800 pre-kinder through fifth grade students.

DISD superintendent Michael Hinojosa, trustee Edwin Flores, George P. Bush, and City of Addison Mayor Joe Chow will all attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
