There’s something for almost everyone in the $1.6 billion 2015 Dallas ISD proposed bond issue, which voters will decide next Tuesday, Nov. 3. Here are a few highlights in our neighborhood:

• All three Preston Hollow and North Dallas high schools would receive additions and enhancements. Hillcrest’s would be the largest — a 32-classroom addition that would replace the original circa 1930 wing — plus a new gym and locker room, and enhancements to the cafeteria, science labs and auditorium. Thomas Jefferson would receive a 16-classroom addition and enhancements to its library, cafeteria, gym, auditorium, and performing and fine arts areas. W.T. White received funding last spring for a nearly 40,000-square-foot addition to address overcrowding and, through the bond, also would see enhancements to its gym, locker rooms, auditorium, and performing and fine arts areas.

• T.C. Marsh Preparatory Academy, which recently converted to a personalized learning campus under the district’s choice schools initiative, would receive 12 new classrooms and cafeteria enhancements.

• Nathan Adams Elementary would receive a cafeteria expansion.

• A pre-K through eighth-grade school would be constructed in the Midway/LBJ area to relieve overcrowding at Nathan Adams, Frank, Kramer and Pershing.

This doesn’t include the maintenance fixes, exterior improvements and technology updates that almost all Dallas ISD schools would receive. View the district’s interactive map to find out specifics for your school, and read the district’s FAQ for more info.
