Could a single painting justify an entire trip to the Meadows Museum? It depends on whether you’re a fan of surrealism. The curators have assembled an exhibit based around one of the museum’s most prized possessions: Salvador Dalí’s “L’homme poisson” (pictured below). Notably, this is the first painting by the artist to reside in a Texas museum’s permanent collection.
According to meadowsmuseumdallas.org:
“Since its arrival … the painting has undergone thorough study, including research that led to the discovery and reinstatement of its original title … The painting was also sent to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, where Director of Conservation, Claire Barry, performed extensive examinations that have uncovered new details about the evolution of the painting’s composition.”
