Dallas Little League, the local affiliate of international Little League Baseball Inc., is currently seeking sponsors to help financially support its annual operating expenses including safe playing equipment, uniforms, umpires, utilities, trophies, publications and insurance for each player. Additionally, many league fields are in need of major renovations. The League, which offers baseball team opportunities to children ages 5 to 16, relies entirely on donor support. The SPCA of Texas runs an injured animal rescue ambulance service to help strays. SPCA will respond to calls in our neighborhood from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Field officers will evaluate injured animals and take them to the SPCA, Highland Park Animal Clinic or an emergency clinic for treatment. 214.651.7387.

Hillcrest High School teacher Loucia Mavrokordatos has been presented with the Texas Exes College of Education Outstanding High School Teacher award. This award recognizes teachers who bring credit to the teaching profession and are highly regarded by their peers, former and current students, administrators, parents and community. Mavrokordatos received $2,250 and a custom-designed bronze sculpture during the Conference on Texas Excellence in Education at The University of Texas.
W.T. White’s Caballeras squad is seeking financial donations to fund 40 members’ tuition to SMU dance camp in June. Members who cannot afford to pay will not be able to attend without assistance. T.C. Marsh Middle School is home of the new Junior ROTC National Champions. Thirty-five students participated in the first official middle school national championship recently. Marsh has more than 200 students in its ROTC program, which is directed by David Bates. The program raises more than $10,000 annually to cover equipment and competition expenses.
