There’s a battle happening in our neighborhood: A frozen yogurt war has officially been launched at the Preston Forest shopping center. For years, Gooey’s has ruled supreme here. But come late next month, new-kid-on-the-block Yogen Fruz will challenge that reign.
Like Gooey’s, this new yogurt shop near Ulta will offer good-for-you frozen yogurt, piled high with all your favorite fixin’s. But unlike the locally owned mom-and-pop shop, Yogen Fruz is an international heavy hitter, already loved by Hollywood’s trendsetters.
You can expect to see a lot more Yogen Fruz in the Metroplex soon. Jon Lindenbaum, principal of Yogen Fruz Systems of Texas, tells me this June another shop will open at the Firewheel Town Center, and this August another shop will open in the Mercantile Place downtown.
Between Gooeys, this new Yogen Fruz, the I Heart Yogurt just down the block, and the Orange Cup at NorthPark, one thing is certain: none of us will lack for frozen yogurt come summertime.
