Let’s start by saying that I’m probably not the target customer for this health-food spot. My Fit Foods, a nutritional hub designed to help people stay on diet regimens and lose weight, just opened in May at Preston Center. The restaurant consists of some chairs and tables on one side, and on the other side, there are rows of refrigerators full of pre-packaged food-breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. My Fit Foods also offers a 21-day Challenge where you could lost 8 to 15 pounds and gain more energy.

I chatted with one of the employees, Nathan, who told me everything is fresh, with only healthy fats and proportioned correctly. It’s all gluten-free, wheat-free and preservative-free with low sugar and sodium … you get the idea. It’s an interesting concept and pretty original, I’d say. You can take your meal with you or heat it up there and eat inside. It’s a convenient lunch spot, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable.

I ordered the Breakfast Tacos. I paid my $6 and took them home, admiring myself for making such a healthy decision. I popped them in the microwave, bit into it and … eh.

The people who benefit from My Fit Foods are athletes and people on specific diets who want to save time weighing out their food and counting calories. That’s not me, but that doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s perfect solution to eating right.
