Coyotes are becoming quite the celebrities in our neighborhood – you might even call it “coyote mania” as Advocate columnist Jeff Siegel put it.

The Glen Meadow Estates HOA sent out a notice late last night, updating neighbors on the situation after a city coyote trapper surveyed the area. Areas near Gooch Elementary and along Candlenut have been popular spots for the wild dogs. And cats are their most common victims as evidenced by remains and the amount of people whose cats simply disappeared this summer.

Coyotes tend to stay away from humans, so it’s not likely that you’ll be attacked while out strolling around the neighborhood. Glen Meadows neighbors and city workers are trying to track the behavior by pin-pointing exactly where and when cat and other animal remains are found in the area.

If you’d like to report any remains, call 311 to have them removed. Keep on eye your cats and other small pets.
