This post is part of our series on publicly-displayed art pieces in Preston Hollow. So far, we’ve shown you the Winston School students’ sculptures and the playful, city-commissioned art at Churchill Recreation Center.

Catherine Coorigan, co-owner of The Pavilion on Lovers Lane west of the Dallas North Tollway, in 2000 commissioned Dallas artitst Zad Roumaya to design sculptures for the shopping center. He created six child-like characters made of heavy-gauge aluminum strapping. The children, arranged in different poses, are playfully throwing a Frisbee in front of Toys Unique, Eatzi’s and other stores. Roumaya says that instead of designing complex sculptures, he wanted to create something fun and simple. The pieces cost about $3,000 each.

We featured Roumaya, who also is a retail developer, in our Lakewood edition of the Advocate in August 2010.
