Second Grade Elections at Lamplighter

They must have lowered the voting age because second graders at The Lamplighter School cast their ballots this morning.

Students crafted an election display, booths and filled out voter registration cards. They also encouraged fellow classmates to vote and received “I Voted” stickers while the faculty and staff got cookies.

Just a week ago parent, Jim Savage, visited the school as a featured guest speaker for fourth graders. Savage is a former secret service agent and served Reagan, Clinton and both Bush senior and junior.

Savage answered the kiddos questions while speaking into his sleeve and wearing sunglasses, which he told students the agents really do to secretly observe crowds.

Presidential elections are the biggest security events for secret service employees, he added.
