Neighborhood resident Elizabeth (Eliza) Solender received the top honor, the Circle of Excellence Award, recently at the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network annual convention in Chicago.

Solender brings her background in nonprofits and real estate to her role in CREW. She is president of commercial real estate and consulting company Solender/Hall, Inc. Previously, she served as president of CREW Network–both locally and nationally. She founded and chairs the foundation, and she also directs an investment group called Mujeres Empresarias, Inc.

“Eliza Solender is a true inspiration, embodying the Circle of Excellence criteria with her professional and community involvement that are unsurpassed,” says Diane Butler, 2012 CREW Network President, in a press release. “She has created a niche in the industry that helps the nonprofits that serve her community, and she is a role model for women in commercial real estate.”

CREW, an organization with chapters in the U.S. and Canada, works to improve opportunities for women in commercial real estate. Its local chapter CREW Dallas has raised more than $2.8 million for more than 40 female-focused local nonprofits since it began in the ’80s, as the Advocate wrote in its 2010 article about Solender and CREW Dallas.
