After four months without a principal, Gooch Elementary will have a new leader in Martha Bujanda.
Former principal Karina De Los Reyes left the school unexpectedly in October 2012, and former Dallas principal Chris Garza has served as the interim.
Bujanda recently served as the administrative intern at Cabell Elementary, and is a candidate for a Masters in Education as a resident in the Teaching Trust at SMU. She currently has a bachelor’s degree in politics and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dallas.
Before Cabell, Bujanda worked as a bilingual teacher at Tom W. Field elementary where she taught fifth-grade math and third-grade English. While there, she helped students achieve commended scores on their TAKS and was named campus Teacher of the Year.
