  • Interact president and senior yearbook editor Shelby Snyder poses with WFAA reporter John McCaa. McCaa was the guest speaker at the Hillcrest High School Interact club kick-off meeting this morning. McCaa and Snyder both stressed the importance of the club’s motto, “service above self”. Hillcrest High’s Interact club, which is sponsored by the Park Cities Rotary, recently won Interact club of the year for the 2012-2013 school year.

 

  • Tickets are on sale now for Ursuline Academy’s annual Lunch With a View fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. Featured speaker CEO Kip Tindell from The Container Store will speak about “conscious capitalism” and what has helped him to land Fortune magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work For” the last 13 years. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the event starts at noon. Tickets are $85 per person. All proceeds benefit need-based financial assistance for young women students at Ursuline Academy.

 

  • Two candidates have filed to run for election for the vacant District 8 seat on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees. District 8 covers Love Field, parts of northwest and central Dallas. Education outreach coordinator Miguel Solis and community organizer Kristi Lara are on the  ballot for a special election on November 5, reports Dallas Morning News.

 

  • The Dallas ISD Districtwide College and Career Fair is set for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 S. Polk St. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 11.
