DeGolyer ElementaryDeGolyer Elementary School Principal Tara Mays participated in Pizza Hut’s “Book It” program on Friday. Principal Mays read aloud nonstop to students from the sounding of the first bell to the last bell on Friday, Nov. 15. Mays camped out in front of the school to read while students and parents watched. By participating in the program, DeGolyer now has a chance to win 101 copies of Jeff Kinney’s “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck” for the students to read.

Hillcrest studentsTwelve Dallas high schools, including W.T. White High School and Hillcrest High School, advanced to regional competition after their performance in the Dallas ISD Academic Decathlon held last Saturday, Nov. 16. The event, held at Emmett J. Conrad High School, highlighted students from 16 Dallas ISD high schools. Regionals will take place Jan. 24-25.

On Thursday Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22, the drama department of The Cambridge School of Dallas presents John Patrick’s fast-paced comedy, “The Curious Savage.” Performances will be held in the Village Church sanctuary located at Walnut Hill and Hedgeway. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
