Below is a summary of a handful of crimes that have occurred over the past week in our neighborhood, courtesy of police reports from the Dallas Police Department.

A witness viewed an unknown suspect exit from a vehicle and smash the rear window of a parked car in the parking lot of the Children’s Choice Learning Center at Medical City at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. The witness was driving at the time and honked their horn. The unknown suspect quickly grabbed a purse, wallet and cell phone, all valued at $500, and fled the scene in a getaway car driven by a second unknown suspect.

At 11:45 a.m. on Feb. 1, a man returned to his car parked in the Northwest Bible Church parking lot to discover that his passenger window was broken and his wallet, containing his driver’s license and debit card, had been stolen.

A car was stolen from a residence between 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, and noon, Sunday, Feb. 2, on the 6700 block of Del Norte.

Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, an unknown suspect broke into a residence via the back patio door on the 6000 block of Preston Haven. $300 cash was stolen and damages to the patio door are estimated at $650.

At 8:20 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 3, a woman parked in a parking garage on the 12700 block of Merit and exited her vehicle. While walking to the elevator, she was approached by a person running up to her and demanding her car keys. The woman said, “No,” to which the suspect responded, “I mean it. I will shoot you. I have to have a car. Give me your keys.” The suspect then grabbed the woman’s purse and pushed her. After taking the woman’s keys from her purse, the suspect threw the purse at the woman, entered the woman’s vehicle and drove away.
