Wheeling groceries home in a store-owned shopping cart could cost you $500. But it probably won’t. According to The Dallas Morning News, “there’s no record of the city collecting any fines or recovery fees.” Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates thinks that might explain why so many grocery carts litter Vickery Meadow. Speaking of Gates, she has “mixed emotions” about rooting for the Dallas Cowboys this season. On the one hand, she’s Roger Staubach’s daughter and a lifelong fan. On the other, she chairs the Domestic Violence Task Force, and Greg Hardy was recently made defensive tackle despite being found guilty of “beating his then-girlfriend, strangling his then-girlfriend and throwing his then-girlfriend on a futon covered ‘in assault weapons and/or shotguns.’” Robert Wilonsky has more.
