Transwestern’s site plan

Looks like a luxury apartment complex is coming to the northeast corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway. City Council approved Transwestern’s zoning change request on November 10.

A few of our neighbors spoke at the public hearing. Their opinions were divided. Some expressed support for the development project, while others stood in opposition.

Ultimately, City Council granted the zoning change request by a 13-1 vote.

Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates abstained from voting on the issue due to a conflict of interest. (Her husband, John Gates, is the CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle, the commercial real estate firm that brokered the deal with the developer.)

Councilmember Philip Kingston was the only representative to vote “no.”
