The Frontiers of Flight Museum is bringing the flair of Vegas home to Preston Hollow with Red Hot Rhythms, a fundraising event this Saturday studded with gaming tables and live music all in a lavish setting at the museum. Collect your $1,000 in chips and head out to play craps, roulette and blackjack while covers of popular songs from the 60s through today are played live by Chinatown. Tickets are $75 and available online. The party runs from 8:30 p.m.-midnight and the museum is located at 6911 Lemmon Ave.

Do you love knitting or have you been wanting to learn the yarn art? Head over to the Preston Royal Library this Friday from 1-3 p.m. for Purls Knitting Social. Yarn and needles will be provided, and helpful knitters will be on hand to teach newbies the basics. There is no cost to attend but the event is designed for adults. The library is at 5626 Royal Lane.

Mamas and daughters are invited over the NorthPark Center to shake it. Former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Lynlee Kessler will teach a mother-daughter dance class this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. It will be followed at 10 a.m. by a fruit bar to cool dancers down. Learn to draw like the masters during a program 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the Meadows Museum at SMU. Guest artist Ian O’Brien takes participants on a tour of the galleries, exploring different techniques. The event is geared toward adults and students 15 and older. Sketchpads and pencils will be provided, but you’re encouraged to bring your own. The session is free with museum admission, which is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $4 for students. The museum  is located at 5900 Bishop Blvd.
