It’s almost September and here at the Advocate, that means it’s time for the pet edition to hit porches across Preston Hollow. We love celebrating the animals who enrich our lives, which is why we make it one of our annual editions. While we don’t want to give too much away, we have spotlighted some very high-profile pooches in the magazine that you’ll see delivered in the coming days.

But that got us thinking about others who work on behalf of animals in our neighborhood. Back in 2004 we spotlighted neighbors who help wild birds or serve their time with homeless pets at the SPCA. Give it a read to see how these neighbors take on the plight of critters in need.

There are many ways you can help animals in Dallas, from volunteering to donating. As Mahatma Gandhi allegedly said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
