The rendering of a possible temporary dog park at Forest and Nuestra.

Some neighbors wanted a library at Forest and Nuestra, but city bond elections did not fund the building of the library. Other neighbors proposed a temporary dog park, supported by private funding. That didn’t happen. Now there’s action. The land has been put up for public auction. Jennifer Staubach Gates recently updated neighbors in what was called “a divisive community meeting.”

“As you may recall from my previous communications, a minimum bid was set in Executive Session by the City Council. The minimum bid amount was based on the most recent appraisal of the property plus expenditures already incurred by the City of Dallas,” reads a Gates statement.

“The reserve amount for the property was not met, therefore, no bid was accepted. It is not confirmed at this point, but we anticipate to go out for bid again, possibly with a contingency.

“My office will continue to keep you apprised.”
