Why an Ursuline soccer player from the ’80s waited until now to detail how her coach sexually abused her

Laura Anton was an All-America soccer player for the Ursuline Academy of Dallas, leading the high school to three state titles and her club team to the brink of a national championship. Now a 51-year-old pediatrician who lives outside Austin, Dr. Anton recently told The Dallas Morning News that her coach sexually abused her starting when she was 13. The coach, Tristan Longnecker, 60, coached her when she was on the D’Feeters Soccer Club and later when she played soccer for Ursuline. Longnecker did not respond to the Dr. Anton’s allegations made in the story, according to The Dallas Morning News. She says three others have also come forward saying that Longnecker assaulted or made sexual advances to them in the 1980s. To read the full investigative story by Sue Ambrose, go here.
