Slime is serious fun for 14-year-old twins Jack and Emma Yurich. And now they are planning a big slime Hoedown event Sept. 14 to raise even more money for a good cause. Expect 54 slime vendors and a raffle every 30 minutes plus food, drinks & a candy booth. Bring your favorite type of slime to be judged.

In 2016, their mother, Joanne Yurich, and grandmother Robyn Menter, visited the community of Kliptown in Soweto, South Africa and they were moved by the photos and stories of the poverty in the area, according to the Star.

The twins started a charity called  “Karing 4 Kliptown” and planned fundraising events to support the organization. In lieu of gifts for their B’NaiMitzvah, they asked for monetary donations to the project instead of gifts. Their goal was to raise $15,000, but they exceeded the target by raising $27,000.

Their family visited Kliptown in July 2019 to make the donations in person. Money covered the installation of artificial grass at the preschool, clothes for the children, 12 tricycles, three sets of shoes, as well as scarves and shoes for preschool teachers. The pair also purchased 175 soccer balls that they handed out throughout the community.

The Preston Hollow twins said they have everything they need and want to support their roots and help the community of Kliptown. 10% of ticket sales from Slime Hoedown will benefit Karing 4 Kliptown.
