Ty Anthony Montgomery was a five-sport star at St. Mark’s, class of 2011. He is now an American football running back for the New York Jets. The 6-10, 216-pound star played college football at Stanford and then was drafted as a wide receiver by the Green Bay Packers. In 2016, he switched over to running back.

At St. Mark’s, Montgomery played football, track, basketball, baseball and lacrosse. In football, he had 118 catches and 36 total touchdowns. In track, at the 2011 SPC Championships, he earned first-place in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, while anchoring the 4×100 squad to victory. He posted a career-best leap of 6.55 meters in the long jump at the 2011 Lancaster Meet of Champions.

Here’s what pundits at the New York Post are now saying about him:

“The guess here is Ty Montgomery probably wasn’t among the top running backs taken in your fantasy draft… But if there’s a secret weapon to the Jets season, an overlooked component that could contribute mightily, it could be Montgomery — the versatile free agent who played for the Packers and Ravens.”

Montgomery, who obviously was a team player in high school on many teams, says this about his role at the Jets: “Every guy on this team, we have a role and I fully embrace my role. I’m going to play it to the best of my ability.”
