Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church’s Rector Christopher Girata blessed ashes during the beginning of the noon service today, then walked three blocks to offer Preston Center’s neighbors a cross-shaped smear of ash on the forehead and the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”The Ash Wednesday was a success. “We had cars stopping us for ashes, workers coming out of businesses and loads of people eager to receive their ashes as the day’s schedule prohibited many of them from getting to their places of worship. We estimate around 80 people took part,” according to the release.
