Love Field in the 1950s

The Braniff Centre recently nabbed a brewery tenant that’s expected to open next year, and it already houses the largest Lincoln dealership in the world.

The $150-million redevelopment of the old Braniff Terminal at Love Field also includes the original Braniff hangars, which were renovated and already are mostly leased to private aviation tenants, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The project from Arnold Cos., Lincoln Property Co. and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones combines retail, office and aviation in a mid-century modern complex originally constructed in 1958.

Braniff built “The Terminal of The Future” in 1968.

Watch this vintage WFAA story, digitized by the G. William Jones Film & Video Collection at SMU, which shows the computerized arrivals and departures board, “the only one of its kind in the world,” as well as the groovy waiting lounge and two classic Braniff air hostesses.

Below that is footage of Braniff’s Jetrail, a monorail system that only ran from 1970-1974.
