Two private schools in our neighborhood were ranked highly among Texas high schools in a recent Niche list.

St. Mark’s School of Texas took the highest spot in the list of private schools, and The Hockaday School was ranked fourth.

Niche, an education website, scores schools based on a variety of factors such as SAT and ACT scores, quality of colleges students consider, student-teacher ratio and Niche user ratings.

The greatest weight in the ranking (28.5%) is allocated to the average score of colleges students are most interested in attending or attend. Composite SAT or ACT scores make up 20.1% of the total score. College enrollment makes up 16.9%. A grade for culture and diversity, parent and student surveys and the student-teacher ratio each comprise 11.3% of the score.
