The Street family celebrates the 10th anniversary of Liberty Burger on Forest Lane this month.

Mariel Street started the restaurant in 2011, and now there are five locations in the Dallas area and one in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She brought in her brother Marco to open the second Liberty Burger in Lakewood eight years ago.

The siblings are now partners in Liberty Burger, Street’s Fine Chicken, which has two locations, and a bar on Cedar Springs, Roy G’s.

They also live across the street from each other in Oak Cliff. Their dad is Preston Hollow resident Gene Street, who founded the Black Eyed Pea, Good Eats and Consolidated Restaurant Co.

Here’s how the Streets describe Liberty Burger:

Liberty Burger serves eight proteins options including a beef blend, bison, lamb, ahi tuna, turkey, chicken, an in-house veggie patty, and the Impossible burger, all of which can be added or swapped on any of the 11 specialty burgers including the classic Liberty Burger. In addition to burgers, salads, grilled cheese and “Traitor” chicken sandwich, the restaurant offers a Burger of the Month, with $1 of each burger’s proceeds going to the Staff Support Fund, which is awarded to a well deserving team member once quarterly.

The burger of the month for November is the Austin Blue: “featuring the signature Liberty Burger beef blend patty with extra brisket, Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, sliced onion and fried pickles.”

Liberty Burger is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
