Through holiday events held at NorthPark Center, more than $700,000 was raised for local charitable organizations.

The shopping center in our neighborhood released all the details on its website.

The Trains at NorthPark brought in the highest amount, over $500,000. All ticket sales benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, and the trains generate about 20% of the nonprofit’s operating budget each year.

For the second year, NorthPark partnered with the Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Health. The $100,000 raised from virtual visits with Santa went to the organization to advance medical research for pediatric illness and improve patient care and overall health and wellness for local kids.

The Angel Tree and Red Kettles are brought in each year by The Salvation Army of North Texas. About 1,400 angels were adopted, and $47,700 was raised through the Red Kettles. Those funds will support programs at more than a dozen Salvation Army centers in North Texas.

More than 25 local design, engineering and construction companies participated in the “Gingertown” competition. Proceeds from it support the Children’s Craniofacial Association, and this year, $30,044.21 was raised.

Over two weekends in December, $8,700 was raised through Camp Gingerbread for the Shared Housing Center, which provides affordable housing options and other supportive services.

Pets were helped, too. The SPCA of Texas’ “Home for the Holidays” Pet Adoption Pavilion has been at NorthPark for more than 30 years. This year, 153 pets were adopted there. The “Bark + Build” competition raised $20,000, and merchandise sales brought in another $15,000.
