Pamela Zeigler-Petty

Business Council for the Arts named Pamela Zeigler-Petty chair of the 2022 Obelisk Awards.

The annual award honors people, businesses, municipalities and nonprofits for extraordinary support of arts and culture in North Texas.

Zeigler-Petty is a Business Council for the Arts board member and the Senior Vice President of Community Development Banking at InterBank. She is the first person of color to chair the awards since they were created in 1989.

This year’s honorary chairs are Patricia J. Villareal and Tom Leatherbury, and Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger.

Preston Hollow residents Villareal and Leatherbury have been supporters of the council since the early 2000s. She is the principal of PatVillarealLaw, and he is a senior partner at Vinson & Elkins and the Director of the First Amendment Clinic at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. They have served on the boards of the SPCA of Texas, The Lamplighter School, Greenhill School, the Dallas Opera, and Texas Appleseed.

Nasher and Haemisegger have owned NorthPark Center since 1995.

Her father, Raymond D. Nasher, was an art collector who developed NorthPark and founded the Business Council for the Arts.

Nancy and David have dedicated their professional and personal life to the advancement of the arts. Nancy serves as Founder’s Chair of Business Council for the Arts, and on the boards of such important institutions as the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Public Library, Duke University and Princeton University. David has also greatly contributed to the Dallas community as a board member for the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Foundation, and Cancer Support Community of North Texas.

Nominations are open for the 2022 Obelisk Awards through May 31.

These are the categories:

Business Champion for the Arts, Outstanding Leadership Arts Alumnus, and Visionary Nonprofit Arts Leader for individuals; Arts Education, Arts Partnerships, and New Initiatives for businesses; and Distinguished Cultural Organization for nonprofits.

The awards will be held on Nov. 15 at the Fairmont Dallas.
