Josephine Giesen

After a long day, sometimes it helps to not worry about preparing dinner from scratch or picking up fast food.

That’s exactly what led Josephine Giesen, a former speech therapist, to launch her meal prep and delivery business, À Table. She had busy moms in Preston Hollow and the Park Cities in mind and wanted to create something fresh and locally-sourced for their at home meals with family.

“I started to engage with mothers that were where my son was, and I started inviting them to focus groups and telling them let’s find the solution to this problem, which is the importance of dinnertime,” she says.

After immigrating from Lebanon, and London, to Dallas, with her husband, Jonathan, and their son, Giesen felt there was something missing when she arrived.

Parents were always on the go and their kids had lots of activities throughout the day and get fast food afterward.

“I knew that this is not the right way to do things because it’s really family is at the center of this community,” Giesan says. “But they don’t have time. At that time, bringing food conveniently to home, about September 2017, was not as trendy as it is now.”

So Giesen, with a team of 11 other women, rolled out À Table and partnered with local farms for locally-sourced ingredients. Windy Meadow Family Farm and Bonton Farms are a couple of those suppliers.

The menu changes weekly and isn’t exclusive to dinner, either. There are also school box lunches. Neighbors can order a week in advance for delivery on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.

This year, there’s also a Thanksgiving menu that includes turkey, whole and sliced, pecan sweet potato soufflé, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and more items.
