Forget Christmas ham and cranberry sauce, Texans know tamales are where its at when it comes to holiday dishes.

Yelp put together a list of Top 25 Spots for Tamales in Texas and neighborhood joint Becerra’s Tex-Mex Tamales made the list. Yelp identified restaurants with reviews mentioning “tamal” and “tamales” and ranked them by the ratings and quantity of those reviews.

Becerra’s Tex-Mex Tamales came in at #22. The self-proclaimed tamale and salsa experts have resided in North Dallas for ten years, serving Tex-Mex dishes like menudo, chile, carne guisada, arroz con pollo, breakfast tacos, enchiladas, tacos and brisket. Becerra’s started with one salsa in 2012 and has grown to specializing in three house-bottled salsas, a BBQ sauce and eight different specialty tamales.

“If it’s not made in Texas by Texans, it’s not Tex-Mex,” Vic Valdez, Becerra’s chef and a fifth generation Texan said on their website.

Becerra’s Tex-Mex Tamales are available to order online on December 10. The tamales range from $14-22.
