Educators at two local neighborhood schools in Dallas ISD have been named master principals of their campus. Several more have been named teacher of the year.
Master principals in the Preston Hollow area are Gerardo Hernandez of Thomas J. Rusk Middle School and Michael Tatum of Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy.
Annually, the top 10% of principals are designated as master principals in the categories of neighborhood elementary schools, neighborhood secondary schools and choice schools.
There were 23 principals across the district who earned the designation. All will be recognized at a spring ceremony. It’s part of Dallas ISD’s Theory of Actions, which governs how Dallas ISD makes decisions that ultimately impact student achievement.
