Artists and Musicians in Recovery will produce its fifth annual Signature Event April 9 to support artists in recovery.

The free event, scheduled for 5-9 p.m. June 9 at Unity Dallas on Forest Lane, will include live music, art exhibitions and food trucks such as G’s Brunch Truck of Dallas. Local musicians will represent a wide range of genres, from blues to pop.

Artists and Musicians in Recovery first produced Signature Event in 2018, with over 450 people in attendance, according to a press release. The event is designed to support and celebrate artists in recovery, while also aiming to increase community appreciation for the arts’ role in sustained recovery. For those interested in further involvement, volunteer signups can be found on the organization’s website.

In a press release, Betty Ewing Dicken, founder of Artists and Musicians in Recovery and creator of Signature, spoke to what makes the event so important.

“We have gathered amazing artists and musicians to share their beautiful creations,” said Dicken. “We all know of talented creative souls who have lost the substance abuse or mental health battles. Many have recovered and courageously use their passions and talents to recover and help others. At Signature, you’ll be amazed by the creative talents!”
